CLASSROOMS

From 3K through 5th grade, PS 20 brings together different classroom models so every child learns in the setting that fits them best — all within one inclusive, IB community.

Classroom models

Our classrooms come in a few forms. Families are matched to the setting that best supports their child, and all classrooms share the same enrichment, specials, and school community. When needed, students in any classroom can receive additional academic support and related services.

General Education

Gen Ed

A classroom led by one teacher following our grade-level, IB-aligned curriculum, where students learn together as a class.

Integrated Co-Teaching

ICT

Two teachers — one general education and one special education — co-teach a class of general-education students, up to 40% of whom may have an IEP, so support is built in throughout the day.

Dual Language

DLP · French & English

Classes bring together an even mix of Anglophone and Francophone children, learning across subjects in both French and English to build full bilingualism and biliteracy in our globally minded, IB setting.

From Kindergarten up, every grade has at least one ICT class and one Dual Language class. Inclusive and bilingual learning is available at every level.

Special education support

Special education at PS 20 is provided as support within our classrooms — not a separate classroom you apply to. Students with IEPs are served in our Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classes and through related services coordinated to each child's plan. More specialized placements are arranged separately through the DOE's special-education process.
