AFTER SCHOOL OVERVIEW

PS20 is pleased to host two in-house, on-site After School programs: Good Success Kaleidoscope Kids (3K through grade 5) and PTA-run Mosaic (Pre-K through grade 5). There are several organizations that pick up from PS20 as well. If your child will be attending an after-school program in the fall, please provide your Ms. Colon and your classroom teachers with the name of the program and the day(s) your child is registered. If your child id attending an outside after-school program, please be sure to let them know the dismissal time and that they should be on time for pick-up.

MOSAIC

For families joining PS20 in Fall 2023, registration opens in late August and remains open on a rolling basis throughout the school year. See details on the Mosaic website, and see Q&A’s from their Fall info session here to learn more.

In the 2023-24 school year, the PTA will continue to run our in-house after school enrichment program, called Mosaic. It operates from the end of the school day until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and serves PreK through 5th grade, setting aside scholarships to ensure that all families interested can participate. Mosaic programs will follow current NYCDOE and NYS Department of Health guidelines on public health safety protocols, and students will be outside as much as possible.

Please make sure you have signed up for Konstella to get up-to-date communications from Mosaic with details about registration as well as a parent information zoom.

GOOD SUCCESS KALEIDOSCOPE KIDS

Registration for 2023-24 is now open! Good Success Kaleidoscope Kids After School (daily 2:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m) and Out of School Time (OST) Program is offered to students from 3K to 5th grade.

FEES (paid via Zelle)

  • $50 non-refundable registration fee will secure your child a spot.

  • After School:

    • $350 a month for 1st grade to 5th grade.

    • $400 a month for 3K, Pre-K/4K and Kindergarten.

    • 10% sibling discount is available for full-time After School students.

    • There will not be any prorated days for Out of School Time.

  • OST: Full day fee is $55 for Kaleidoscope Kids and $75 for non-Kaleidoscope Kids.

    INSIDER TIP: IF YOUR CHILD IS ATTENDING ANOTHER ONSITE - IN THE PS20 PROGRAM: Children might be picked up and returned to Mosaic or Kaleidoscope by the piano teacher.

  • Have you checked your child's backpack or homework folder lately? Back in December, they tucked away an exciting surprise there - paper forms and consent slips for all 4th and 5th graders, introducing PS20's newest and thrilling initiative - an amazing opportunity for 4th and 5th graders to join a debate club!

    Led by PS20 dedicated and talented teachers, the club meets each Thursday from 2:50 pm to 3:50 pm. It's a fantastic chance for your child to engage, learn, and grow through the art of debating. If this sounds like something your child would love, please contact Ms. Colon (KColon3@schools.nyc.gov) as soon as possible for more details and to check if there's still a spot open.

    EFNY is offering two French after-school classes at PS 20:
    1) Frencefnyps20@gmail.comh Native Speaker 1st & 2nd Grades (Wednesdays): This class is for children who understand and/or speak French at home.
    2) French as a 2nd language K to 2nd Grade - (Wednesdays): This class is for kids who are new to French and don't speak French at home.

  • We're exploring the possibility of introducing a professionally taught chess program at PS20 and would love your input. If you are interested that your child participate in an afterschool chess program, please let us know by emailing me: analourdes@gmail.com. Your feedback is invaluable in assessing the community's interest in this initiative.
