Addressing Concerns About Your Child’s Educational Experience at PS 20

(posted for 2025-2026 School Year)

Dear PS 20 Families,

We hope this message finds you well. At PS 20, we believe that open communication between families and the school is essential to supporting our students’ success. If you have concerns or questions about your child’s educational experience, please follow the protocol outlined below:

  1. Start with Your Child’s Teacher - if you have a concern about your child’s academic performance, behavior, or overall experience, please reach out to their teacher first. The teacher works most closely with your child and is the best person to provide insight and support.

  2. Contact Our Parent Coordinator - If you need help scheduling a meeting or would like additional support, please contact our Parent Coordinator, Karen Colon: Email: KColon3@schools.nyc.gov Phone: (718) 834-6744

  3. You may also visit the main office to fill out a Parent Concern Form. Once submitted, you will be contacted within 48 hours by one of the following staff members:

    • Karen Colon, Parent Coordinator

    • Deborah deShong, Guidance Counselor

    • Nichole Dembert, Assistant Principal

    • Nicole Blyden, Principal

  4. Schedule a Meeting with the Principal - if you feel your concern requires further attention.  You are welcome to schedule a meeting with our Principal, Nicole Blyden by calling the main office at  (718) 834-6744 to make an appointment.

We appreciate your partnership and look forward to continuing to support your child’s growth and learning at PS 20.

Warm regards,

PS 20 Administration Team
