Fall Kickoff - Breakfast, Movie Night and a Garden Cleanup

Our first full week of school ended with a full Friday. Families gathered at the picnic tables on Clermont Ave for the PTA Family Breakfast, where you could meet committee members, ask questions about the year ahead, and pick up PS 20 gear at the merch sale. That evening the school turned into a theater for Back to School Movie Night, with pizza, popcorn and cotton candy for everyone who came. On Saturday morning the Green Arts Committee hosted a Fall Garden Cleanup in the learning garden, trimming, laying wood chips and getting the beds ready for classes.

From the principal. The September Principal's Newsletter is now available on Konstella; She also shared a reminder about arrival and dismissal: arrival begins at 8:10am for 3K/Pre-K and 8:20am for K–5, and dismissal is 2:30pm for 3K/Pre-K and 2:40pm for K–5. The school does not have staff or space to supervise students outside those windows, so please arrive and pick up on time.

To do this week. If you have not yet created your NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) for your child, a letter with instructions was sent home. The setup guide is at schools.nyc.gov/setup-guide; call the main office with questions. Also, if you have not added your child to their classroom on Konstella, do it now so you receive teacher updates.

After school and enrichment. Kalakkal Afterschool, a math-focused program for grades 2–5, runs Mondays 9/28 through 12/14 from 2:50–3:50pm in room 301 (no sessions 9/21 or 10/12). Space is limited; the registration link and flyer are on Konstella, and families interested in scholarship seats can email the STEAM Committee at steam@ps20.org.

PTA General Meeting, Thu 9/24. All families are welcome at the September School and Families Meeting on Zoom from 6:00–7:00pm. On the agenda: news from Ms. Blyden, PTA committee updates, a budget review and Q&A. The Zoom link is in the event on Konstella. Questions for the principal or the board can go to board@ps20.org.
